Counselling in Stirling

Professional Counselling at The Wee Therapy Rooms

We provide counselling and therapy in Stirling for individuals (16+) and couples seeking support with their mental health, emotional wellbeing, and relationships.

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when we are struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, or significant life changes. Counselling offers a supportive and confidential space where you can speak openly about what you are experiencing to understand yourself and your difficulties better.

Sessions are available in person from our therapy rooms in Bannockburn, Stirling, and online throughout the UK and the EU.

What is Counselling?

Counselling is a collaborative process that facilitates a space to explore thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships, and life experiences in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

Sometimes people seek counselling because they are experiencing a specific issue, while others may feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about aspects of their lives. Therapy is not about being “fixed” or told what to do. Rather, the goal of counselling is to enhance self-awareness, emotional regulation, develop healthier coping strategies, and meaningful personal change.

At The Wee Therapy Rooms (TWTR), we recognise that every person is unique, so our counselling sessions are adapted to your individual needs and experiences.

What’s the Difference Between Therapy and Counselling?

The terms “therapy” and “counselling” are often used interchangeably, and many people use them to describe the same process of talking with a trained professional in a safe and supportive environment.

Some people view counselling as shorter-term support focused on a particular problem, while therapy can sometimes refer to deeper or longer-term emotional work. However, there is often significant overlap between the two.

What Can Counselling Help With?

Counselling and therapy can support people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety and excessive worry
  • Depression and low mood
  • Stress and burnout
  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Trauma and difficult past experiences
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Loss and grief
  • Life transitions and uncertainty
  • Difficulties with confidence and identity

People attend counselling for many different reasons, and there is no “right” or “wrong” reason to seek support.

Our Therapeutic Approaches

At TWTR, our therapists work in an integrative and collaborative way, tailoring therapy to each client rather than taking a generic approach.

Approaches offered include:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Couples and marriage counselling
  • Integrative Counselling
  • Mindfulness-based approaches
  • Relational and attachment-based therapy
  • Trauma-informed therapy
  • Solution-focused approaches

What is Integrative Counselling?

There are many different therapeutic approaches and methods; all with the shared goal of helping clients move towards where they want to be.

Integrative counselling is an approach that combines a range of therapeutic interventions and techniques from different psychological schools, rather than following a single method or model. This allows therapy to be adapted to the individual’s needs.
