Depression & Low Mood Counselling in Stirling
Therapy for Depression and Low Mood at The Wee Therapy Rooms
At The Wee Therapy Rooms (TWTR), we provide therapy and counselling for adults experiencing depression, low mood, emotional numbness, loss of motivation, and difficulties enjoying life in the way they once did.
When we are struggling with low mood, even everyday tasks can begin to feel overwhelming. People often describe feeling exhausted, disconnected, hopeless, or stuck in patterns that are difficult to break free from.
Therapy can provide a supportive space to better understand these experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and begin making meaningful changes at a pace that feels manageable.
Sessions are available in person from our therapy rooms in Bannockburn, Stirling, and online throughout the UK and EU.
What is Depression?
Depression is more than simply feeling sad or having a bad day. It can affect how we think, feel, behave, and experience the world around us.
People experiencing depression may:
• Feel persistently low or unhappy
• Experience a loss of interest or enjoyment in activities
• Struggle with motivation or energy levels
• Feel disconnected from others
• Experience feelings of guilt, shame, or worthlessness
• Find it difficult to concentrate or make decisions
• Experience changes in sleep or appetite
• Feel hopeless about the future
Depression can affect people in different ways, and experiences can range from mild to severe. Sometimes there is a clear trigger, while at other times it may feel as though low mood has gradually developed without an obvious cause.
How Can Therapy Help?
When we are struggling with depression, it can be difficult to see beyond our current circumstances or imagine things feeling different.
Therapy can help you explore:

• Difficult life experiences
• Relationship difficulties

• Confidence and self-esteem
The aim is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, your experiences, and the factors that may be contributing to your difficulties.

Frequently Asked Questions About Depression and Low Mood
Is it normal to feel low sometimes?
Yes. Everyone experiences periods of sadness, feeling flat, or emotional difficulty at times. However, when low mood becomes persistent and starts to impact your daily life, therapy can provide valuable support.
Can therapy help with depression?
Therapy can help you better understand the thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and experiences contributing to depression. It can also help you develop healthier coping strategies and make meaningful changes over time.
What causes depression?
There is no single cause. Life experiences, stress, trauma, relationships, physical health difficulties, genetics, loss, or a combination of factors can all influence depression.
Is depression linked to low self-esteem?
Depression and low self-esteem can often influence one another. People experiencing depression may become more self-critical, while longstanding low self-esteem can contribute to feelings of low mood.
How long does therapy for depression take?
This varies from person to person. Some people benefit from shorter-term work focused on specific difficulties, while others prefer longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and experiences.
How much is therapy for depression at TWTR?
Sessions lasting 50 minutes for individuals cost £50 for individuals, and £75 for couples.
