Therapy offers a safe and supportive space to help you understand your anxiety better, explore the patterns maintaining it, and develop healthier ways of coping.
Sessions are available in person from our therapy rooms in Bannockburn, Stirling, and online throughout the UK and within the EU.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a natural survival response that activates when we perceive something as threatening or dangerous, triggering our fight-or-flight response.
This response is designed to help us either face danger or move away from it. In today’s modern world, we are often exposed to large amounts of information, pressure, stress, and overwhelm, which can lead us to perceive many aspects of life as threatening or unsafe.
When anxiety becomes persistent, overwhelming, or difficult to manage, it can begin to impact daily life, relationships, physical wellbeing, and emotional health.
People experience anxiety in many different ways, such as:
- Excessive worrying or overthinking
- Racing thoughts
- Panic attacks
- Difficulty relaxing
- Physical tension
- Sleep difficulties
- Avoidance of certain situations
- Irritability or feeling constantly “on edge”
Anxiety can sometimes create cycles where fear, worry, physical sensations, and avoidance begin reinforcing one another over time.
How Can Therapy Help with Anxiety?
It can sometimes be difficult to step outside of our anxiety and gain a deeper perspective on what may be contributing to it. Therapy can help you better understand the emotional, behavioural, and thought patterns maintaining anxiety, helping you feel less stuck in repetitive cycles of worry, fear, and overwhelm.
Our therapists at TWTR can help you explore:
- Patterns of overthinking and worry
- Self-criticism and perfectionism
- Avoidance behaviours
- Stress responses
- Emotional overwhelm
- Coping strategies
- Mindfulness and grounding techniques
- Underlying fears or beliefs
The aim of therapy is not to “eliminate” anxiety completely, but to help you develop a healthier relationship with your thoughts, emotions, and experiences so that anxiety feels more manageable and less controlling.
Our Approach to Anxiety Therapy
At TWTR, our therapists work collaboratively and adapt therapy to the individual rather than following a rigid one-size-fits-all approach.

- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Integrative counselling
- Mindfulness-based approaches
